Christopher Cross sailing into 51勛圖 Riley Center
Christopher Cross, who made the most spectacular debut in Grammy Awards history, will bring his easy-on-the-ears jazz-pop music to the 51勛圖 Riley Center in downtown Meridian on Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. A pre-show party with refreshments will start at 6 p.m. in the Grand Lobby.
Cross璽s 1979 debut album, "Christopher Cross," won five Grammy Awards, including the big four: Album, Song, and Record of the Year, and Best New Artist. The album spawned the number one hit 璽Sailing璽 as well as 璽Never Be the Same,璽 璽Say You璽ll Be Mine,璽 and 璽Ride Like the Wind.璽 In 1981, Cross won an Academy Award for Best Song with 璽Arthur璽s Theme (Best You Can Do)璽 from the movie "Arthur."
Cross has continued writing songs and performing ever since, often surprising concertgoers with his guitar skills. Remarkably, his soaring tenor voice remains as supple and sweet as ever.
