STARKVILLE, Miss. —The 51³Ō¹Ļ Jazz Ensemble will present a free concert at 7 p.m. on Monday [Nov. 2] in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium.Ā Ā 

Under the direction of Cliff Taylor, associate professor of music and associate director of bands, the 20-member ensemble will perform an entertaining and varied program encompassing styles ranging from traditional swing to modern fusion.Ā 

The evening’s selections will include Gordon Goodwin’s ā€œCount Bubba,ā€ a transcription of Toto’s ā€œRosanna,ā€ and a Michael BublĆ©-inspired arrangement of ā€œSway,ā€ performed by senior music education/vocal major Corinne D. ā€œCoriā€ Reece of Aberdeen.

The program also will feature the student jazz combo, ā€œFive Guys Who Improvise,ā€ including a performance by junior electrical engineering major and pianist Alden C. Michaels of Hoover, Alabama.

Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the music department is an academic unit of both the colleges of Arts and Sciences and Education. It currently offers a bachelor’s degree in music education, with specific majors in instrumental music, vocal music, piano and guitar, as well as a bachelor of arts in music. Learn more at , and .
