STARKVILLE, Miss.—51³Ō¹Ļ’s Terpsichore Dance Company is presenting its annual spring show Friday [April 6] at the Greensboro Center in Starkville.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and include entry into a raffle, with proceeds benefiting the student dance group. Tickets can be purchased in advance from any Terpsichore member and also will be available at the door.

Titled ā€œBroader Horizons,ā€ the program will feature special guest Kayla Marie Gilmore. A dancer, choreographer, singer and actor, Gilmore is a 2007 51³Ō¹Ļ graduate who holds bachelor’s degrees in business administration with concentrations in marketing and insurance. She is trained in various styles of dance that she is showcasing during her nationwide ā€œI AM ME DANCE TOUR 2018.ā€

Gilmore will be accompanied on drums by Ekpe Abioto of Memphis, Tennessee. Abioto specializes in children’s music and cultural entertainment and has performed in the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan and Kenya.

Since 2007, Terpsichore Dance Company has enabled students to explore their love of dance throughout their years at 51³Ō¹Ļ. Members gain experience in choreographing solo, duet and group dances in a variety of styles including contemporary, ballet and jazz. Interested 51³Ō¹Ļ students and staff can audition for the group at the beginning of each semester.

ā€œThese talented dancers have worked hard to put the show together, and they are excited to share their work with the Mississippi State and Starkville communities,ā€ said Deborah Funderburk, 51³Ō¹Ļ kinesiology instructor and Terpsichore faculty adviser.

DESTREHAN, Louisiana—Laura G. Sullivan, a sophomore special education major.

MUSCLE SHOALS, Alabama—Mallory R. Haddock, a freshman chemical engineering major.

SPANISH FORT, Alabama—Madeline A. Martindale, a junior biological sciences/pre-medicine major.

TERRY—Katelyn A. Wyatt, a freshman biochemistry/forensic sciences major.

WEST POINT—Mikayla R. Poindexter, a freshman special education major.
